INK works with directors throughout the year on a range of productions and projects. Our largest call out takes place for the annual INK Festival each April, when we appoint around 10 directors to bring 70 new short plays to life.

We welcome applications from both experienced directors and those at the beginning of their professional careers who have a strong passion for new writing.

Early Career Directing Programme

A new chapter for emerging directors. In January 2027, INK will open the doors to a new early-career directing programme, creating a launchpad for the next generation of theatre directors.

Designed for ambitious emerging artists, the programme will offer a unique opportunity to learn, experiment and create within a supportive professional environment. Participants will be connected with established theatre-makers, develop their artistic voice and gain invaluable experience bringing stories from page to stage.
