The INK Festival is the flagship event in INK's year-round programme, celebrating the very best in new writing while reflecting the organisation's commitment to developing writers, supporting artists and bringing communities together through theatre. Each year, INK selects 70 new theatre and radio pieces from over 1,000 submissions. These are professionally produced and performed at our annual five-day festival in 12 venues across the Suffolk market town of Halesworth.

The festival brings together around 70 professional actors, directors and crew, alongside a vibrant programme of industry workshops, talks, poetry, celebrity events, a free family day and a dedicated Youth Festival.

INK has become a recognised launchpad for new talent. Writers, performers and creatives are regularly discovered at the festival, with many offered further opportunities. Our partnerships with organisations, including The Pleasance at Edinburgh and Criterion New Writing, help selected writers showcase or develop their work beyond the festival, while theatre producers from across the industry attend INK looking for exciting new voices and plays to champion.
