growing young voices
& creative futures
INK creates opportunities for young people to discover theatre, develop their creativity and find their voice. From school projects and workshops to holiday courses and performance opportunities, our youth programmes encourage children and young people to get involved, build confidence and experience the creative process for themselves. pen to performance
Working with secondary schools, INK brings together playwrights, drama facilitators and professional actors to help students create their own short plays and see them performed. The project builds confidence, creativity and literacy, with a focus on reaching young people with limited access to the arts.
INK youth festival
Our free, unique Youth Day welcomes students from secondary schools and colleges across the region to experience live theatre seeing 12 – 15 contemporary plays, meet industry professionals and discover what happens behind the scenes.
“We have attended the Youth Festival since it was introduced and have always felt it is fantastic that the team stay to present their work for the students. It is great for students to watch and see new writing and the talented skills of the actors as they showcase their skills and interpretation of characters across the short plays. It is also very important for pupils to see the creative industry functioning in their own community, extending their understanding of careers in the Arts and the positive impact this has. ”
